Going out

On Curaçao many things are usually organized by hotels. The larger beaches also offer very nice terraces and bars. Curaçao is characterized by many nice cocktail bars, where you can enjoy a delicious fresh cocktail while relaxing under a large sunshade. Curaçao is not known as a big party island where you can dance the night away. The island, however, offers plenty of amusement for anyone who likes to party. A good location for a party night is Mambo Beach. Of course you can also visit the town centre of Willemstad, the district Saliña or the resorts at Jan Thiel.

Curaçao organizes festivals like Carnival, Curaçao International Jazz Festival, Curaçao Dive Festival, Curaçao Salsa Festival, Sami Sail and the Amstel Curaçao Race.

Kite surfing Curacao: For beginners and advanced surfers

One of the best spots to go kite surfing on Curacao is the Sint Joris Bay. Both suitable for beginners and advanced surfers. Kite surfing lessons are also given here. The bay, actually a large lake which is connected with the sea through a canal, has smooth water.

You will find many locals here; not only because the bay is well-accessible, but also because the bay offers ideal kite surfing circumstances. The water remains shallow the first 40 meters.

Diving / snorkelling

With an average annual temperature of circa 27 °C, the ocean offers a lovely temperature all year long!

Curaçao has very clear water, with an average visibility of 25-40 meters! There are about 80 different diving locations! 50 locations are marked by means of a red/white stone and can therefore easily be found. You can go: wreck diving, deep diving, diving in (underwater) caves and you can find great drop-offs. A large number of tropical fishes, turtles, sea horses, eels and dolphins live here! Curaçao has some of the most beautiful shore diving locations of the Caribbean; some of the best locations can be found nearby the beach. Curaçao has many experienced diving schools which organize daily boat trips to the best diving locations and are always willing to take snorkelers with them ! There is something for everyone, varying from quiet bays with shallow reefs for snorkelers and inexperienced divers, to colourful corals with heavy currents for experienced divers.

Swimming with dolphins

Enjoy the unique and intimate experience of swimming with real dolphins in their natural lagoon. The dolphins will swim next to you, enabling you to stroke them. You will also teach to give the dolphins various signals, instructing them to sing, wave, turn and much more……This program offers interaction with the dolphins and is an unique combination of trained behaviour and real swimming. Highlight of Dolphin Swim is the dorsal ride: the dolphins offer the guests a ride on their back.

Mountain biking & Cycling on Curaçao

Cyclists will definitely enjoy the nature of Curaçao.

Most organized daytrips take you on paved roads. Now and then a narrow path or hill will challenge you. A guided tour must be booked in advance. It is also possible to rent bikes or motorbikes and map out your own route. Every year the Amstel Curaçao Race, an international bike race for professionals and amateurs, is organized on Curaçao.

Safari tours on Curacao

A nice way to discover the island is to book a safari tour.

In a, often, full-day program you will travel by jeep through the wonderful and rough nature of the island. You will visit places you won’t be able to reach without jeep. The safari tours are guided by experienced guides.

Hato  caves

Willemstad is lively and colourful. If you want to escape the city and enjoy the peace and beauty of the island, there are plenty of possibilities.
Just north of Willemstad, nearby Hato International Airport, the Hato caves are situated. The caves, carved from limestone over millennia, were created when the island rose from the sea. You will see huge stalactites.

Christoffel Park

At the western end of the island you will find the impressive Christoffel park which is part of a group of national parks which were founded in 1978. Approximately 40 minutes’ drive from Willemstad you will find amongst others the highest point of the island, Mount Christoffel. The rich flora and fauna includes amongst others: orchids, tropical birds, lizards and turtles.

Seaquarium

In 1984 the Curaçao Seaquarium was opened. It is an unique project on the coast in Bapor Kibra, next to Hotel Lions Dive. A stone’s throw from the entrance you will find an extremely healthy coral reef. The remarkable Seaquarium is a great family outing. This beautiful aquarium complex is one of the most unique in the world because of its "open-water-system" - meaning that seawater is continuously pumped into the aquariums. The aquarium offers a combination of information, education and interaction. Throughout the day there are several tours and presentations where you can watch and touch the animals and learn more about them.
